A sticky 'k' clinging to the palate, followed by a deep sigh through the studio microphone. We stop the recording, the voice actor takes a sip of water, and we restart the sentence. The search for the perfect radio ad voice is a craft that unfolds in the details of a fraction of a second. Too often, we hear commercials that sound like a runaway train, simply because too much text has been crammed into thirty seconds. That grates on the listener, who immediately filters the message as distracting background noise. The solution lies not in a louder voice, but in the art of omission and the right pitch.
Flemish copywriters sometimes tend to cram an entire pamphlet into a thirty-second ad. The result is a voice actor who has to sprint to the finish line, causing the listener to mentally switch off. A voice needs room to breathe. When we direct an ad in the studio, we often cut ten percent of the text on the spot. These breathing pauses are not wasted time; rather, they are the moments when the message sinks in for the listener.
When choosing the right voice for your radio campaign, you should not rush. It is not about what you personally find a beautiful voice, but about what works for the listener sitting in the car or cooking in the kitchen.
When selecting, pay attention to the following:
In our database of 92 professional voices, you will find Mark from Belgium, for example, an experienced Flemish voice who brings the perfect balance between maturity and credibility for commercials.
As a voice director, I see it daily: a voice actor trying too hard to sound "commercial." That is counterproductive and sounds unnatural. My most important tip for the studio is the physical posture and the smile before starting. Have the actor stand during the recording. That opens the chest and gives the voice natural power without needing to shout. Also, ask the actor to consciously smile for a second just before the first sentence begins. You will immediately hear that physical smile reflected in the microphone, creating a warm and inviting tone.
Budget transparency prevents surprises afterwards. When you book a commercial voice over, the price always consists of two parts. First, there is the basic fee for the recording itself, known as the session fee. This covers the studio time and the voice actor's work. Additionally, you pay a buy-out for the usage and rights. This buy-out depends on the medium where the ad will be heard and the campaign's duration. For non-commercial work, such as an internal corporate video, we apply rates per word or per project. This way, you know exactly what to expect beforehand.
The era of shouty, overly enthusiastic radio voices is behind us. Consumers see right through that. They want to be spoken to by a real person. Our clients, such as Bart and Cindy, confirm that this human approach works. Cindy recently wrote in her review: "Very smooth service. Ordered yesterday, delivered today! Excellent!". It is that combination of speed and the authenticity of the voices that determines the final result. By choosing authenticity, you truly build trust with your target audience.

What is a buy-out for a radio commercial voice?
A buy-out is the fee for the intellectual property rights of the recording. This buys you the right to use the voice for a pre-agreed period on specific channels.
Which languages can your voice actors record in?
Our voice actors speak their native language. We offer twelve different languages, including Flemish, English, German, Spanish, and French. For example, Aurora works in her native Spanish from Spain, and Maciek records his voice-overs in Polish. Do you want to know which voice best suits your next radio campaign? We are happy to help you with the right tone and perfect casting. There is no obligation. Feel free to contact us for personalised advice.
A Buy-out is the fee you pay for the right to use a voice recording for a specific period and a specific medium (e.g. Radio, TV or Online).
For our telephony messages, we use a unique model:
For commercials (Radio/TV), the buy-out depends on the reach and duration. Our price calculator calculates this for you immediately, so you are never faced with surprises.
