How do I enrol for a Studio workshop?
Choose your workshop, check the dates and level, and register online. After payment, you will receive practical information about the location, materials, and what to expect. If you are unsure about the level, please contact us.
Do I need experience for a beginner workshop?
No. Beginner workshops start from scratch: breath, articulation, and microphone technique. Check the listed level for each workshop. If you want to practice at home before you come, explore Voices Academy for online lessons.
Where do Studio workshops take place?
Studio-workshops vinden plaats op onze vaste locaties (per editie staat de locatie bij de data op /studio/):
Exacte route en praktische info krijg je na inschrijving per e-mail. Vragen vooraf? Studio contact.
Will I receive a demo after this day?
You will receive a professional recording of your work from that day. This is a perfect start for your portfolio, but not yet a full commercial demo.
Is this also for children?
This workshop is aimed at adults (or young people aged 16 and over) who want to delve into the professional world of dubbing.
Will I receive the recordings of the workshop to take home?
Yes, the recordings we make during the day will be processed and sent to you afterwards. This is ideal for hearing your own progress.
Can I start working as a Voice-over Artist immediately after the workshop?
The workshop provides you with the tools and honest feedback regarding your potential. For many, this marks the beginning of a coaching journey or the start of their own home studio.
Do I need to be a good reader?
Voice-over is more than just reading aloud; it's speaking *to* someone. We teach you how to make that connection with your listener.
Do I need to bring my own scripts?
No, we provide printed bundles with various texts and speaking styles. You will also receive these digitally in advance (via a Google Doc) so that you can review them aloud beforehand.
How much time do I spend in front of the microphone?
A lot! After a brief warm-up (often led by Bernadette Timmermans), we head straight into the studio. You will have ample opportunity to practise, receiving immediate tips and feedback from Johfrah or the guest instructor.
What is the difference between the beginner's course and the guest workshops?
The beginners' course provides a broad foundation. The guest workshops (such as Audiobooks, Documentaries, or Dubbing) offer in-depth explorations of specific genres with experts from those fields.
Is this workshop also suitable if I have a dialect?
Absolutely. We focus on clear articulation and refined Dutch, without losing your own personality or unique tone.
What is the difference compared to a speech therapist?
While a speech therapist often works curatively, we focus on "performance": how to sound warmer, more powerful, and more convincing for an audience or microphone.
Will I get exercises to practice at home?
Yes, you will receive a set of practical tools and techniques to train and and maintain your voice daily.
I'm very nervous in front of a camera, is this for me?
Especially then! Kristien will teach you relaxation techniques and give you the confidence to sound natural, even when the recording light is on.
